Residence Fort Socoa is located just 20 mins walk from the pretty port of Ciboure and the village of Socoa with its fort and beach. It is located at the southernmost part of the bay of St Jean de Luz in the typically Basque family resort of Urrugne. It enjoys a lovely riverside setting and is on the “Way of Saint James” pilgrim walking route close to the Spanish border. Just 2.5 km from downtown St Jean de Luz and nestled between the distant Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean, it is surrounded by wild coastlines and stunning countryside.

A short walk along the riverside leads you to Socoa beach and the nearby sailing school. The port of Ciboure and the village of Socoa are both nearby and will give you a sure insight into the Basque “art de vivre” (way of life) with its fine gastronomy, beautiful scenery and perfect blend of culture and tradition.

The residence is composed of seven small three –storey buildings spread over the riverside location at the extreme south of the bay and just 200m from its sister residence, Soko Eder across the bridge in Ciboure.
There is an internal patio area with trees and an outdoor pool close to the river. There is also a games room with a pool table and table tennis. The onsite Kid’s Club which operates from early July to late August makes this ideal for families; children can book in for half days, full days or the whole week to enjoy fun and activities on site.

There is a bright and cheerful breakfast room in the residence where you can enjoy a simple continental breakfast – all you need to do is order the evening before at reception and breakfast will be ready for you in the morning. Otherwise breads and pastries can be ordered and collected at reception. The residence has free outdoor parking space (dependant on availability) and there is also Wi-Fi in the main areas and rooms and a self-service laundry and a telephone box within the residence (all payable).

St Jean de Luz is just 2.5 km from the residence and is well worth a visit with a bus link from just in front of the residence operating in July/August. This pretty fishing village rose to fame and became a hot spot with the French bourgeoisie after the Royal wedding of King Louis XIV to Maria Theresa of Spain took place here in 1660. The village has grown over the years but it still has its authentic Basque roots, pretty central square and port and colourful history.

Nearby Biarritz is another jewel on the coast and is well renowned as a top destination for surfers and water sports enthusiasts who enjoy the Atlantic sea with its high rollers. Be sure to visit the lesser known surrounding villages of Bidart, Urrugne, Sare with its caves and Bayonne with its ramparts, cathedral and Basque museum. 

Apartments 
All the apartments at Residence Fort Socoa in Urrugne are fitted and furnished to a good standard. The interior décor is simple and functional and there is a TV, telephone and a furnished balcony or covered terrace. All apartments have an equipped kitchenette with 2 ring hob, mini oven - grill, fridge, dishwasher, coffee-maker, kettle and toaster (on loan).

Studio Alcove sleeping 4 (ca. 23m2): Open plan living/dining area with a double sofa bed, an alcove with bunk beds, bathroom with WC. Balcony or terrace.

1 Bedroom Apartment sleeping 4 (ca. 32m2): Open plan living/dining area with a double sofa bed or sofa converting to two single beds, 1 double bedroom, bathroom & separate WC. May be Duplex. Balcony or terrace.

1 Bedroom Duplex Apartment sleeping 6 (ca. 48m2): Open plan living/dining area with a sofa bed (converts to two single beds), an alcove with bunk beds, 1 bathroom and separate WC. . Upstairs: 1 double or twin bedroom, bathroom with WC. Balcony or terrace.

2 Bedroom Apartment sleeping 6 (ca. 55m2): Open plan living/dining area with a double sofa bed or sofa converting to two single beds, two double or twin bedrooms, bathroom with WC. May be duplex. Balcony or terrace.

3 Bedroom Duplex Apartment sleeping 8 (ca. 75m2): Open plan living/dining area with a double sofa bed or a sofa that converts to two single beds, 1 bathroom and separate WC. . Upstairs: 3 double or twin bedrooms, bathroom & separate WC. Balcony or terrace.

Please note: for any apartments at Residence Fort Socoa in Urrugne that feature bunk beds, sleeping in the top bunk is not recommended for children under the age of 6 years old.
 

Price includes

Fully equipped apartment with bed linen (beds made on arrival and 2 bath sets included for short stays), TV, free outdoor parking space, free access to the outdoor pool (open mid-May to mid-September (weather permitting) on Sun-Fri, 09.00-12.00 & 16.00-19.00), luggage room, locked bike and surf board storage.

Pets are allowed and will be charged €35/week (payable locally). A valid passport for your pet is compulsory.
