Argelès-Gazost, the emerald of the Pyrenees, is a small and Charming Pyrenean spa and ski village that provides a gateway to an array of natural attractions including the world famous UNESCO World Heritage site of the Cirque de Gavarnie.

The town of Argelès-Gazost is quite compact but it has much to offer. An adorable downtown is lined with shops and cafes that ooze an authentic Pyrenean spirit. A leisurely wander through the village squares and along the streets will reward you with many hidden treasures ranging from fountains to magnificent villas and beautiful parks and gardens.

Food fans and gastronomy lovers should be sure not to miss the local farmer's market which takes place every Tuesday morning. A rich selection of tantilising taste sensations await, including local cheeses, honey, foie gras and cured meats.

The surrounding area of the Argelès-Gazost valley is one of outstanding natural beauty and offers a diverse selection of outdoor activities and leisure pursuits from hiking to water sports. Hikers have several lakes and numerous mountain peaks on offer while water babies can choose from canoeing, kayaking, rafting and canyoning on the local rivers.

The Pyrenean peaks are a play ground for cyclists. Here you can cycle on roads where legends have been made and where some of the great sporting feats have been achieved. Due to Argeles Gazost's geographical location, a large amount of the mythical passes of the Tour of France are well within riding distance; from the steep slopes of Hautacam, to the legendary Tourmalet, to the twists and turns of Luz Ardiden and the tough Aubisque and Soulor.

The Hautes-Pyrénées region is famed for its thermal spa towns and boasts an amazing eight thermal spa villages and more than a hundred hot springs. Neighboring spa towns include Beaucens-les-Bains, Cauterets, Luz-Saint-Sauveur, Barèges-Barzun, Bagnères de Bigorre and Aquensis. The premier thermal spa is, of course, right at Argelès-Gazost and is a must try experience during your stay.

The village also has a rich cultural heritage which is portrayed through its architecture, gastronomy, handicrafts and ancient farming practices. Boasting an abundance of natural riches, including close proximity to the four "Grands Sites", Argelès-Gazost is in an ideal base for exploring the local area and is a perfectly placed getaway location for nature-lovers who also like to be based in a traditional and charming town.

Agos Vidalos
For those who prefer a traditional village feel to their stay, the pretty village of Agos Vidalos, at an altitude of 440m is a perfect location. It is a real haven of peace and just 5km outside of Argelès Gazost and the Pibeste-Aoulhet Nature Reserve is situated right on its doorstep.
